Why are Tyres so important?
Tyres in good condition and correctly inflated will increase your safety, improve your fuel consumption and enhance your cars ride quality, cornering and stopping ability.
When the time comes to replace your tyres, we offer a range of tyres of to suit both your car and your pocket, we will ensure they are fitted and balanced correctly and recommend any repairs such as replacment steering components or wheel alignment, that may be required to ensure your new tyres last as long as they should.
Irrespective of the condition of your brakes and steering, to stop & steer effectively your car must have good contact with the road surface, and disperse any water which comes between the tyres and the road.
Current legislation requires car tyres to have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread depth, around the centre three quartes of the tyre in a continual band. However, it is proven that tyres worn to below 3mm will adversly affect the performance and stopping distance of your car.
Regular checks of your car tyres and routine service & maintenance will improve the life of your tyres, the main causes of avoidable tyre wear include;
- Under inflated tyres
- over inflated tyres
- wheels out of balance
- incorrect wheel alignment
- worn steering or suspension components
- incorrectly fitted tyres
